Every summer, the “Appennino Festival”is held in the Emilian Apennines, on the border between the provinces of Piacenza, Genoa, Pavia, and Alessandria. It is a festival of traditional music, song, and dance.

The 2026 edition begins on August 2 and ends on September 22.

Each event takes place in a small community in the hilly or mountainous areas of the province of Piacenza. The physical landscape of the Apennines is matched by a soundscape of great vitality and beauty, encompassing numerous forms of dance and styles of singing.

An ancient tradition of unique musical instruments and songs developed along the Via degli Abati, a route that, like the better-known Via Francigena, connected continental Europe to the Mediterranean. Even today, along these borders, songs that evoke the Provence of the Troubadours are still alive, keeping alive the ancient tradition born from the passage of pilgrims and travelers through this Apennine region.

The event program will be available on visitpiacenza.it closer to the event date.
